Macintosh for the Developing World |
To: Apple Computer, Inc.We, the enthusiastic users and promoters of Apple Macintosh OS X, believe that the current movement to produce ultra-inexpensive laptop computers, notably the MIT $100 laptop computer project, for people in the developing world should be matched by the efforts of Apple Computer. We envision a laptop computer designed by Apple Computer that contains a full and complete installation of Mac OS X and the iLife suite. We respectfully request that Apple Computer establish a voluntary fund to which Macintosh users and promoters can contribute to support the development and delivery of "the world's most advanced operating system" to people in the developing world.
Apple has always been an innovative and talented company, and we believe that the benefits of Apple hardware and software should be extended to people in the developing world at a reasonable cost.
Below are some suggested venues for such a fund:
- Apple Stores
- Apple Online Store
- Apple Reseller Stores
We thank you for your consideration in providing inexpensive, aesthetically pleasing, and fully functional technology to the targeted demographic at this crossroads of operating system adoption in the developing world.Sincerely,
