Release Javed Hashmi and all Political Prisoners in Pakistan

To:  General Pervez Musharraf, Government of Pakistan

Javed Hashmi, the Acting President of Pakistan Muslim League (N), has been detained, imprisoned, charged and given a sentence of 23 years in Pakistan.

We believe:
- That the Government of Pakistan has charged Javed Hashmi on the basis of a fraudulent case engineered with the help of secret service agencies in order to silence a strong political voice that speaks for democracy and for bringing an end to military rule in Pakistan.

- That Javed Hashmi is a veteran of Pakistani politics since his student days in the 1970s, and is highly valued by his peers and his constituents as a leading political voice in the country.

- That every one who cares for democracy and justice, must lend support to our efforts to secure the release of Javed Hashmi and all political prisoners now in Pakistani jails.

- That Javed Hashmi Release Committee will continue to lobby nationally and internationally till Javed Hashmi's release is secured.

We demand
- That the Pakistan Government immediately release Javed Hashmi and all political prisoners including Yousaf Raza Gilani of Pakistan Peoples Party who had served as the Speaker of the National Assembly.
