Save the Hornblower Series

We, the undersigned, are deeply disappointed by the recent news that the A&E Television Networks plan to discontinue the Horatio Hornblower series and we endorse this petition in the hope that the producers of Hornblower will reconsider that decision.

Hornblower has consistently charmed audiences, garnering fans worldwide and in growing numbers since it first aired, as evidenced by the existence of numerous Internet communities and the popularity of the Hornblower forums on A&E’s own discussion boards. The caliber of the series has earned it high ratings and extremely favorable reviews, further recognized by the numerous nominations and awards (including an Emmy for “Best Miniseries”) it has won throughout the course of its three-series run. The classic story telling, compelling characters and gifted cast of Hornblower—a combination too rarely seen on television today—exemplifies the sort of high quality programming that originally set A&E apart from other cable channels.

We appeal to the series’ creators to continue this tradition of excellence by producing additional Hornblower episodes.
