Downtown Miami Florida Marlins Baseball Stadium

PLEASE NOTE: The South Florida Sun-Sentinel and various other media have also reported on this issue.

To:  Florida State and Local Governments

WHEREAS the Florida Marlins have won two World Series championships and have done an excellent job representing the citizens and communities of South Florida since their inception, AND





WHEREAS having a Major League Baseball team located in the Miami area is vitally important to international image as well as the hotel and hospitality industries of South Florida, AND





WHEREAS the Miami Herald is now reporting that Major League Baseball has stepped forward in an attempt to rejuvenate efforts to build a baseball-only stadium in downtown Miami located on land south of the present Miami Arena, AND





WHEREAS the location identified in the Miami Herald article reportedly would be accessible via multiple forms of mass transportation as well as Interstate 95 thereby providing reasonable access to citizens of most areas of South Florida,





WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, HEREBY PETITION THE FOLLOWING:

(3) Elected and Appointed officials from Miami-Dade County, Florida





(4) Elected and Appointed officials from the City of Miami

(7) Major League Baseball, Inc.





To all work together harmoniously and within the best interests of the citizens of South Florida toward resolving the Florida Marlins baseball stadium conflict, and developing a feasible scenario in which a permanent baseball stadium for the Florida Marlins baseball club can be built within the downtown Miami area before the start of baseball’s Spring Training 2007.
